In the European Parliament, MEP of the Confederation, Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik, in harsh words demanded from the Ukrainian authorities permission to exhume the Polish victims of the Volhynian Massacre. During her speech, the politician emphasized that Poland has supported Ukraine on many levels since the beginning of the Russian invasion, including by accepting refugees and providing military equipment, but it still cannot count on respect for historical truth.

Zajączkowska-Hernik accused the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, of a lack of respect and ingratitude towards Polish aid. As she emphasized, „reconciliation must begin with an apology” for the crimes of 1943, during which Ukrainians murdered over 100,000 Poles. The MEP stated that without consent to the exhumation and commemoration of the victims, there should be no further support for Ukraine.
